We’re calling all the punks,
the hillbillies and drunks…
we’re calling all the freaks,
the rednecks and the geeks.
So says the bridge of the song Welcome to the Picnic, as performed by my new band who’s logo you see ———————>
This is a new endeavor for me, and it’s pretty exciting as I have only been playing mandolin for a little while.
The band has had a successful first show at seminal Albany dive Valentine’s and has already recorded the first EP, tentatively titled Lightning in a Bottle which is available for download at our Reverb Nation page.
Recording with the mandolin was a new experience for me, as I had never recorded on an acoustic instrument prior to the session with the WTP. But, seemingly everything went without a hitch and in a brief two-hour session on the outskirts of Saratoga Springs, the band was able to lay down five tracks with the help of engineering guru and musical mad scientist Archie.
A second trip to the studio for some vocal overdubbing by guitarist Buford and bassist Fester and we were ready to put a bow on it.
More gigs to come, more moonshine to distill and more melees to instigate – but for now please become a fan of the band, or at least, have a listen to some new songs from the latest acoustic bluegrass punk hillbilly ensemble to hit the Christian contemporary charts.
